
Artistic Director and Teacher of American Mime Core
Janet Carafa is an internationally respected mime artist, educator, yoga master and author dedicated to revitalizing and expanding the legacy of American Mime. As a longtime AMT performer, Janet trained extensively with Paul J. Curtis in New York and also studied with Marcel Marceau in Paris, giving her a unique mastery of both American and European traditions of mime.

World renowned mime and actor Bill Bowers offers workshops in Physical Storytelling and Mime, designed for theatre artists of all abilities.
Students will experience a series of movement exercises that consider Presence, Focus, Physical Awareness and Space work, Individual physical warmups, and group improvisations. With Bill, students will work to strengthen and relax the actor’s body, expand their movement vocabulary, and open the physical imagination.
Using Fundamentals of Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau, students will develop a foundation of Corporeal Mime, as well as proficiencies in illusory exercises. The program introduces multiple approaches to creating new physically based theater work and gives the students the opportunity to apply these new techniques in their own performance work.

Mark Stolzenberg came in fifth in the world in an international circus competition. He was a clown with Ringling Bros. B & B Circus and has toured the world as a clown and circus artist. He was the first American clown to perform on stage in China. His film, "My Father the Clown" was honored at THE LINCOLN CENTER DANCE ON FILM SERIES. Mark was the artistic director and star performer in NYC's Northwind Circus and he toured with his stage shows, "Pierrot and Pirouette" and "Circus Follies".
Mark made numerous featured performances as a clown and circus artist on LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN.
He was featured on the cover of NEW YORK MAGAZINE which called him "0ne of the hidden delights of NY's little theatres"

Douglas Allen is a curious heart that seeks to enliven this body, on loan from the Earth, through the receiving and offering of literal and figurative nutrition. He is a conduit for expression in the realms of embodied movement, acting, poetry and collage.
Doug received his B.A. in Theatre from Michigan State University and collaborated in the creation of performances upon moving to NYC in 1998, and now in Portland since 2012.
Productions were created within the scope of many mediums, such as modern dance (Tracy Broyles, John Ollom) and Japanese butoh (Mizu Dieserto, Meshi Chavez, Michael Freeman and Edoheart). He is also a ten year student and primary assistant to the international collective named Body Ritual Movement in Tlalpujahua, Mexico (Diego Piñón), a company member and teacher with The American Mime Theatre (Paul Curtis, Janet Carafa), as well as an stage actor (Ken Nintzel, Helen Stratford, James Scruggs), an indie film performer (Antero Alli) and a collage artist (collaborative work with Jerry Pellowski as well as solo work).
Doug is the virtual co-teacher for the American Mime Core Class.
