Janet Carafa is the Artistic Director of AMT. She is a certified American Mime Teacher who studied and performed as Lead Company member of the American Mime Theatre in NYC for 15 years. She also studied directly with the world master mime artist Marcel Marceau for 12 years. While in NYC, Janet performed and taught residencies at The United Nations, Lincoln Center, MOMA to name only a few. Janet is an (AITS) Artist in the Schools Teaching Partner with Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. She is a professional teaching artist qualified to conduct in-depth, standards-based fine arts and arts integration residencies in educational settings and to present professional development workshops for teachers. Janet brings her extensive experience as a professional mime artist who has performed and studied with the masters to the students.
