American Mime Theatre (AMT) is a performance company and training school dedicated to the art of movement-based storytelling. Founded in 1952, AMT teaches the AMERICAN MIME MEDIUM created by Paul J. Curtis—where each gesture reveals truth, presence, and human connection.

Paul J. Curtis — Founder & Visionary

Paul J. Curtis (1927–2012) was the visionary founder of the American Mime Theatre and the creator of American Mime — a powerful movement-based theatrical form rooted in truth, presence, and emotional expression.

Through the AMERICAN MIME MEDIUM, he trained generations of artists and shaped a legacy that continues to inspire performers around the world.
